Architecture as Pedagogy

Architecture as Pedagogy is a pedagogical-research project by Ali Javid to identify, draw and define pedagogies which emerged during socio-political changes, and expanded the boundaries of architecture discipline.

Space+Character: Towards a figurative architecture

This presentation focuses on the experimental pedagogy of Michael Gold’s Unit, which has remained somewhat peripheral among colleagues due to its departure from conventional architectural approaches. Gold’s teaching encourages surrealist-inspired, symbolic, and emotionally charged drawings, embracing chance, unconscious thought, and painterly realism. Despite initial resistance, the work reveals a distinct yet varied style that challenges traditional architectural education.
